Funchal, Madeira

the honeymoon destination of your dreams

The Context

The Savoy Palace is a landmark in Funchal, and Madeira itself is no secret. So awareness was never the interesting question. What struck me on site was something narrower: how completely the property is built for staying put. Pools, food, wellness, gardens — you never really need to leave. That, plus the sustainability commitment, pointed at one kind of guest in particular.

THE APPROACH

The obvious concept for a honeymoon film is of two people holding hands at sunset. Instead of focusing on the couple, I wanted to capture the feeling of slowing down in a place that has clearly been designed with care.

So the films are structured around wandering rather than events. Pools, food, gardens and the spa. It's less about showing the facilities and more about conveying the sense of a place you can move through without a plan.

The long-form piece opens with a line that sets the standard rather than describing it: 'There are getaways, and then there is this.' It then works through the day and ends at night, because the property's character changes after dark. The wellness areas, in particular, stop feeling like a hotel amenity and start feeling like the most vibrant part of the building.
